In January 2024 I produced and directed the virtual production of the upcoming music promo for the track 'Subversion' by my band Spectral Darkwave. Taking inspiration from some inspirational videos such as 'Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse' by Dimmu Borgir, I was able to use my understanding of camera and lighting to create a compelling 'Virtual Production' where the performers are lit and framed in such a way that they can be matched into their fantasy backgrounds to a professional standard. Shot in 4K for a 1080p product - it gave us a wide-range of framings and we're pumped at the result.
The 4K 'green screen' footage that we captured was then given to Andy Pilkington at Very Metal Art along with directions linking the lyrics of the song, visual themes and even the draft artwork - then Andy had his fun with it.
The product came out amazingly well thanks to Andy but also because we were able to give him professional level of footage with which to work.
